Florence Meleo-Meyer
Florence Meleo-Meyer has been studying and practicing meditation and various contemplative practices for over 50 years. After teaching meditation in an adult education program, and in a mental health clinic, she began teaching the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program founded by Jon Kabat Zinn at the University of Massachusetts, in 1994.
For decades, she has taught MBSR and trained MBSR instructors and trainers worldwide at the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical School, the Mindfulness Center and School of Public Health at Brown University, and the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies. She continues to contribute to the development of best practices for MBSR instructor training by advising the Global Mindfulness Collaborative, an international network of MBSR trainers.
In 2003, she discovered the practice of Insight Dialogue. Inspired by the liberating power of relational meditation, she developed the Interpersonal Mindfulness (IMP) program with Gregory Kramer, Phyllis Hicks, and many other members of the Insight Dialogue community, then created the IMP teacher training with Phyllis Hicks.
She leads Mindfulness meditation retreats as well as Insight Dialogue retreats internationally.
