Deb Sylvan (Assistant)
Christianity was the lens through which Deb Sylvan encountered the divine as a young child. She began contemplative practice in earnest as a teenager, longing for god and feeling the limitations of the religious context she was immersed in. The spiritual lens of her youth widened and drew her to silent meditation retreats in 2004 (both Christian and Buddhist). A fervent retreat practice then led her to the Diamond Approach, which broadened and grounded the experiences she was having on retreat, bringing them into her life. She began teaching meditation in 2016, and the Diamond Approach 2021. She is an Assistant Teacher for the US Diamond Approach Silent Retreat, the Wednesday Morning Meditation Class, and leads a Meditation and Inquiry group for parents. The combination of the Diamond Path with meditation and silent retreats is where her heart finds its home. Her geographical home is with her husband and two children in Oakland, California.
