To be awake means to be right here, present in the midst of life, something that most of us seldom are. This week will offer practices and qualities of presence, relaxation and deep curiosity, that as we practice may also highlight the ways we are not present, and contactful, how we lose ourselves in defences and distractions, lost in thought, lost in habits. We’ll explore conditioned habits and beliefs, seeing how they can be recognised, understood and transformed, with the invitation of calling ourselves back home in each moment.

Each day will include :

Meditation :
Guided and silent meditations focussing on innate awareness, natural presence and dimensions of relaxation including physical, emotional and existential

Embodied Presence :
Complementing the sitting and walking meditation, gentle focused movement practices will deepen awareness of and presence in bodily experience

Inquiry practices :
Each day, dialogue exercises offer powerful ways to accelerate and clarify themes of the retreat, opening up psychological patterns, emotional blocks and spiritual insights.

*Awake Where You Are is Martin’s 2021 book, exploring themes of embodied psychology  and freeness of being, which will form the basis for this retreat. Familiarity with the book will be helpful, but not essential, for participation in the retreat.

(This retreat will be held in silence. It conforms to the criteria necessary for Mindfulness Instructors in Training)
